Society Honey Show 2026

TUESDAY 17 NOVEMBER at New Lodge

The Show will be held in the lounge of the New Lodge. Entries can be brought in from 6.30, with tasting/judging hopefully starting at 7. Entry is free.

The members present will be the judges. Judging forms will be provided (though it would help to bring a pen/pencil). Certificates will be awarded for the six categories and we have the Jonathan Bowen Memorial Shield to be awarded to the entry deemed to be the best on the night.

A light buffet is being provided once judging is complete.

Categories:

1 Jar of Light honey

1 Jar of Medium honey

1 Jar of Dark honey

1 jar of Set honey (either naturally or “creamed”)

6 x 28g (approx) wax blocks

3 x wax candles

~ Honey and Beeswax should be from your own hives.

~ Honey can be in any shape jar with a minimum weight of 227g/8oz.

Judging criteria is included on the judging forms.

Judging criteria

Honey is judged by the attendees based on the following criteria:

  1. Clarity
  2. Aroma
  3. Taste
  4. Viscocity

Marks are awarded 1 to 5, with 5 being the best. First prizes are awarded for the honey gaining the highest total of marks in each class.

In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by the honey with the most number of higher marks.
